Hearing for lawsuit involving Confederate Veterans’ Monument set for March

In November of last year, the Brunswick City Commission voted to remove the Confederate Veterans’ Monument from Hanover Square near downtown. Later in November the Georgia Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the local Thomas Marsh Forman Camp #485 filed a lawsuit and a request for a Temporary Restraining Order.

The lawsuit names Mayor Cornell Harvey and the three City Commissioners, Julie Martin, Felicia Harris, and Vincent Williams individually, and in their official capacity, as defendants for violation of Georgia Code section 50-3-1. A March 10th hearing date has been set by Superior Court Judge Anthony Harrison.
